Have you ever wanted to send someone a text message from e-mail? Each of the major carriers work the same way – enter the 10 digit phone number followed by the @ symbol, then the carrier specific domain from the list below:

  • AT&T – txt.att.net
  • Nextel – messaging.nextel.com
  • Sprint – messaging.sprintpcs.com
  • T-Mobile – tmomail.net
  • Verizon – vtext.com

For example, to send a text message via e-mail to an AT&T customer with a number of (555) 444-3210, e-mail to 5554443210@txt.att.net.

Remember text messaging is SMS (Short Message Service) which should be limited to 140 characters or less. Otherwise, your e-mail will be broken into multiple text messages, which might not make the recipient too happy. Don’t forget to remove your e-mail signature if you have one.
